Protease Production by Bacteroides amylophilus Strain H 18

چکیده

Bacteroides amylophilus strain H I 8 produced protease(s), active at pH 7.0, when grown anaerobically in a simple maltose, ammonium sulphate, cysteine, sodium bicarbonate and salts medium. Protease production was neither induced nor repressed by a wide range of nutrients. Protease was synthesized by exponentially growing organisms and 20% of it was liberated into the growth medium. The cell-bound protease was completely accessible to the protein substrate. Protease production was proportional to ammonium sulphate and maltose concentration in the ranges in which these nutrients were growth limiting.

Degradation of soluble and insoluble proteins by Bacteroides amylophilus protease and by rumen microorganisms.

Various soluble and insoluble proteins (6.25 mg) were incubated at 37 C with partially purified protease from Bacteroides amylophilus (156 micrograms) in 2.0 ml of .1 M potassium phosphate buffer, pH 7.6, for 2, 4, 6 and 18 hr, and the liberated amino acids were determined by the ninhydrin method. Results showed that (1) although soluble, serum albumin and ribonuclease A were resistant to hydro...

Comparison of the sphingolipid content of rumen Bacteroides species.

Ten strains of Bacteroides ruminicola were found to contain phosphosphingolipids. Four strains of Bacteroides amylophilus and one strain each of Bacteroides succinogenes and Bacteroides sp. were devoid of phosphosphingolipids.

Genetic Transformation of Amylase Gene to Ruminal Bacteroides Species Using Conjugation Consequence for Improvement of Rumen Enzyme

Rumen bacterial strains can potentially be manipulated to perform functions different from wild type species. The most numerous species of bacteria in the rumen and gut are species of the familyBacteroidetes, whichcan have the potential for genetic modification for enzyme production. One of the genetic manipulation of rumen bacteria can perform for production of starch digestive enzyme for the ...

Nutritional Interdependence Among Rumen Bacteria, Bacteroides amylophilus, Megasphaera elsdenii, and Ruminococcus albus.

Nutritional interdependence among three representatives of rumen bacteria, Bacteroides amylophilus, Megasphaera elsdenii, and Ruminococcus albus, was studied with a basal medium consisting of minerals, vitamins, cysteine hydrochloride, and NH(4). B. amylophilus grew well in the basal medium supplemented with starch and produced branched-chain amino acids after growth ceased. When cocultured wit...

Biological Control of African Violets Root-Knot Disease by the Used of Extracellular Protease Bacillus

The present study explored the efficacy of Bacillus spp. and protease production for biocontrol of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica in African violet media. Among 100 bacterial isolates from various soils, the highest nematode mortality was observed for treatments with isolate GM-18, which was identified as Bacillus subtilis based on cultural and morphological characteristics and 16S...
